ABOUT SCAMP CAMP
All it takes is one visit to Clarkston SCAMP and you will feel the love and excitment! Laughing, singing, swimming, running, creating and hugs abound. SCAMP is a five-week program developed and designed for children and young adults with special needs. It runs from the end of June to the beginning of August (except for the week of July 4) from 9:00am-2:00pm Monday through Wednesday.
SCAMPers range in age from 3 to over 40 years old. There is almost a 1:1 ratio of SCAMPers to counselors/volunteers. Physical, as well as, emotional support is provided while fostering a sense of belonging in addition to community and social engagement. The camp is more than just an exciting place for the SCAMPers; this program provides a growing and learning opportunity for both the young adults hired to be aides or volunteers for the SCAMPers, as well as a respite for the SCAMPers' families who care for them.
Needs range from autism spectrum disorders, cognitive or behavioral impairments to physical disabilities. SCAMPers make fast friends at camp and also get to see and do things in the community that might have previously been unavailable to them.
